At the 76th FIABCI World Real Estate Congress in Vienna, Eugenia Foxworth, founder of Foxworth Realty in Harlem, New York, was honored with a FIABCI Medal. The award recognized more than two decades of loyal and active service to the International Real Estate Federation. This distinction is yet another historic achievement in a career defined by leadership, resilience, and global impact. Foxworth remains the first and only African American to attain this level of recognition within FIABCI. During the Congress, she was also re-elected to the FIABCI Board. This further affirms her pioneering voice in international real estate and reinforces her influence in policy conversations across continents.
This year’s honor adds to a distinguished record. In 2023, Foxworth received the FIABCI Medal of Honor, one of the organization’s most prestigious recognitions. The award is given by the FIABCI World President to individuals whose service has advanced the federation’s mission. Since 1963, only 447 members have received it. The medal is a high lifetime distinction within the global real estate network and is worn ceremonially at FIABCI events worldwide.
The Vienna Congress, held June 8–12 and hosted by FIABCI-Austria, convened more than 800 international real estate leaders, developers, and urban planners representing 51 nations. The gathering reflected FIABCI’s expansive reach across 70 countries and its 75-year legacy as a global NGO with consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Organized under the theme ACT: Awareness, Connection, Transformation, the program centered on the future of global housing markets, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
The Congress featured addresses from 50 internationally recognized speakers, including Anaclaudia Rossbach, Executive Director of UN-Habitat; business strategist Kjell A. Nordström; and digital innovator Florian Gschwandtner. Their contributions underscored the imperative for collaborative, forward-thinking approaches to housing and urban development.
The gathering’s significance was heightened by the attendance of the Mayor of Taichung, Taiwan, along with a 210-member delegation. The event also included the installation of Lily Chang as the incoming FIABCI World President. This ceremony highlighted the federation’s commitment to international partnership and cultural exchange.
Set against this global backdrop, Foxworth’s recognition gained particular resonance. Her decades of service demonstrate not only professional distinction but also a commitment to diverse perspectives in international real estate. Her continued presence on the FIABCI Board allows her to help shape the federation’s next chapter, focused on innovation, inclusivity, and global collaboration.
