WHAT TIME IS IT? Those words evoke both a question and an awareness of a circumstance. Any watch or clock can quickly provide the needed answer. It is the thought that is already in action before and beyond the question that is of the most importance.
Are you asking for the time because there are actions that should have been taken care of already, are you late, or are you deciding if you have enough time to accomplish something yet to be done?
Time is of the essence in all that we do for ourselves and/or others. Time is the prime factor and the decision maker. Oftentimes it is the cause of guilt when we know we should have taken the time to do a better job.
It is not a good feeling to know there was time we wasted on triviality and foolishness. Time demands respect and yet we often take it for granted.
Those of us in publishing must always keep time as the major focus for deadlines to keep the press rolling on a timely schedule. Time is flying by even when we think we have enough of it on hand.
It is only after time has passed that we see the misuse of it. Yet we must understand that spending time on something or with someone is valuable usage and should not be rushed along.
I do believe we have been given sufficient time to achieve what it is we are to do on our life journey. The book of Ecclesiastes 3:1 in the Bible clearly proclaims there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven…and the book continues to note the season and the reason.
As I ponder the relevance of time, I am reminded of what we are granted at the beginning of every day. 86,400 seconds (24 hours) at our disposal. The 24 hours are likened to a bank account that is opened daily and credited with $86,400. At the close of the 24-hour day, the account writes off whatever dollars we have failed to invest. It carries no balance, allows no overdrafts. If we fail to use the day’s deposit, the loss is ours. What’s done is done, what is gone cannot be retrieved.
This is a simple conclusion to a serious contemplation – invest your time wisely, make every day’s deposit worthy. We must invest our time with commitment and dedication to get the utmost in good health and happiness along with spiritual enlightenment and especially for success in the management of our business affairs.
Stay steady and carefully safe as you enjoy the time allotted to you and yours.
Do not relinquish precious time to sedentary inactivity and lost causes.
