Shartina Thompson, founder of Got This Shit From Tina (GTSFT), has spent more than two decades shaping visual culture, and now she’s building a fashion movement of her own. A proud Harlem native and award-winning graphic designer, Thompson transformed her creative expertise into a bold, culturally charged apparel brand that has been thriving online for the past two years.
In 2025, Thompson displayed her items at HARLEM WEEK for the first time, an experience she describes as powerful and deeply affirming. Connecting face-to-face with the community that shaped her artistry added new energy to her mission. Since then, she has continued expanding her presence through curated pop-up events while maintaining her primary home base: her online store.
GTSFT is more than apparel, it’s a statement. The brand specializes in bold, culturally inspired designs across t-shirts, hoodies, and accessories that celebrate Black creativity, identity, and everyday life. Each piece is crafted to spark conversation, inspire pride, and reflect the lived experiences of the community Thompson represents.
Beyond apparel, Thompson continues to leverage her extensive design background through graphic design services, custom event designs, and brand consulting for businesses seeking to elevate their visual presence. Her approach blends authenticity, cultural insight, and strategic design, helping brands connect more meaningfully with their audiences.
Black Excellence by Design: Creating Art That Reflects, Affirms, and Empowers
I launched my business with a clear purpose: to create designs that genuinely reflect our culture, our voice, and our lived experiences. After years of producing campaigns shaped by someone else’s vision, I wanted the freedom to design from my own perspective as a Black woman in graphic design. Building my own brand allowed me to create work that doesn’t just look good, it makes people feel seen, valued, and empowered.
One of my most meaningful projects said Shartina is, “Black Excellence,” which celebrates Black professionals in fields where representation is essential. The collection highlights doctors, accountants, lawyers, educators, therapists, and more, pairing bold visuals with affirming, conversation-starting language. It’s a tribute to the brilliance within our community and a reminder that excellence thrives in every corner of our professional landscape.
This line was inspired by my family’s experiences navigating the healthcare system and the importance of being cared for by providers who understand and respect our cultural realities. Through this work, I aim to spark pride, encourage annual checkups, and uplift the professionals who make our communities stronger every day.
As GTSFT grows, Thompson remains rooted in the spirit of Harlem: unapologetic creativity, community connection, and the power of telling your own story through what you wear. For more information and to purchase her products online go to Website: www.gtsft.com or Email: shartina@gmail.com.
